The Ultralight Articulating Night Vision Binocular (UANVB “Katana”) remains the lightest binocular on the market, with on board power, weighing in less than 15 oz fully built. All Molded Katanas will included a LEMO 00B External Battery Port that works with the Nocturn Industries Batpack. The articulating design allows for individual pod shut off, enabling the user to use one or both eyes while utilizing rail mounted, non-passive aiming systems. End users will be able to mount and dismount vehicles easier with the low profile of the UANVB when stowed. The UANVB features the original Friction Lock Interpupillary Adjustment feature so you can set it and forget it with no additional tools. This unit may be lightweight but does not compromise strength as it exceeds MIL-STD-810G and had been drop tested beyond NATO or TOP standards (6 feet to concrete in 6 different orientations on a single device). We offer five choices of Optics: Standard Mil-Spec Optics – NVD Cage Code – These are the most popular and cost effective option. We have evaluated multiple optics and found these to be the best option for most of our customers. Weight: 4.5 ounces per set. Standard Mil-Spec Optics – Noctis (Formerly Carson) Cage Code – These are identical to our NVD Cage Code optics, but have the Cage Code of Noctis (Former Carson). Weight: 4.5 ounces per optic set. Rochester Precision Optics (RPO) 4.0 Ultralight – These are the most popular lightweight optic option. These offer increased performance and are ~45% lighter than Standard Mil-Spec Optics. Weight: 2.4 ounces per optic set. Photonis Defense Boomslang 50 Degree FOV – Lightweight 50 Degree optic system. Weight: 3.5 ounces per optic set Act in Black 50-Degree FOV – 50 degree optic system offering minimal resolution loss. Weight: 4.7 ounces per optic set. NNT and Photonis tubes have exceptional autogating technology and high-light resolution, which makes them the perfect choice if operating in an urban environment. Photonis tubes are a cost effective solution for customers that plan to use their night vision in a mix of low light and high light / urban environments. Elbit tubes offer exceptional low light performance at a lower cost than L3Harris Unfilmed. These tubes are currently being used but he U.S. military and offer the best “bang for your buck” given their cost to performance ratio. L3Harris Unfilmed intensifier tubes offer the the best low light performance available on the market. Customers that demand the best low light performance when operating under thick tree cover on a moonless night select L3Harris intensifier tubes. Custom Night Vision typically uses 20UA and 24UA Military Spec / Aviation Spec intensifier tubes to ensure our customers get the highly quality tubes with minimal spots. We also carry L3Harris Commercial Spec Gen 3 Autogated Unfilmed White Phosphor intensifier tubes, which are similar tubes, but did not qualify for Military /Aviation Spec usually due to one parameter (ie: Large zone 3 spot, Under 64 Resolution, EBI reading, etc…). Commercial Spec tubes offer a more affordable way to get a night vision unit with L3Harris Unfilmed tubes. L3 SuperGain Unfilmed White Phosphor image intensifier tubes increase the Luminance Gain (Gain) specification for image intensifier tubes from the standard 60,000-70,000 fL/fc to between 100,000-120,000 fL/fc. This greatly increases the image intensifier’s ability to amplify and collect light, resulting in a noticeably brighter image with increased low light performance and extending operational envelope and ability to see into extremely dark areas.
