These lovely contemporary drop earrings are made from a broad oval of textured recycled solid sterling silver with a cut-out centre, which has been imprinted with a geometric pattern, and suspended from handcrafted Argentium Silver hook wires with a wire-wrapped detail around the top. The oval element measures 23mm by 20mm and the earrings have an overall drop length of just over 4cm from the top curve of the hook to the bottom of the oval. The silver used in the main oval is 1mm thick and has been patterned using a rolling mill, and the whole of the earrings have been oxidised with a darkening patina to add depth and highlight the detailing. The hooks and the wire detailing have been brought back to a higher shine, whilst the oval itself retains a contrasting soft brushed satin finish with a very subtle sheen. The earrings are suspended from handmade Argentium Sterling Silver hookwires, which are a longer length to help balance the weight. Argentium is a newer variety of sterling silver and is stronger, more tarnish resistant and also hypoallergenic – this makes it perfect for those who may have a sensitivity to traditional 925 sterling silver.
