The FBMSVH is that home—a 10-slot vertical carrier that holds the modules, provides the backplane communication, and gives you terminals to land field wiring. It’s the backbone of a Foxboro I/O rack. What’s the “VH” stand for? Vertical Horizontal? No—Vertical High-density. Unlike the older FBMSH (horizontal mount), the FBMSVH mounts vertically, which saves panel width. In my experience, this matters when you’re retrofitting older cabinets with limited space. The carrier includes all the termination points for field wiring—you land your signals directly on it, then plug the FBM modules in. No separate termination panels needed. No processor. No memory. No firmware. No Firmware: The carrier is just a PCB with traces connecting the FBM modules to each other and to the field terminals. There’s nothing to upgrade. Hardware Revision: Look for Rev 3 or later on the label. Earlier revisions had a known issue with the terminal block torque specs—the screw terminals could loosen over time with thermal cycling. Rev 3 improved the terminal design. Configuration: All configuration happens in the Foxboro I/A Series software. You define which FBM is in which slot, assign channel numbers, and set parameters. The carrier itself is invisible to the software. Compatibility: Works with all FBM200 and FBM2000 series modules. Also compatible with the newer FBM300 series?
